Fijian Masi

A Fijian Masi is a treasured taoga in the Fijian culture, made and gifted at important events, weddings, birthdays as well as used as a form of art.

Designs and sizes vary and have an important meaning behind each pattern. The making of a Masi is significant and incorporates the connection with ancestors, families and an individual’s greater village.

Working alongside our community partners, each workshop help families create a Masi that has importance and meaning for family members. Importantly, making a Fijian Masi, offers an opportunity to talanoa about wellbeing, family, culture and the importance of support from a greater village.
